Inspiration

"It's not just your chosen charity that benefits when you decide to sign up for one of the challenges; you will end up having one of the best weeks of your life and meet some fantastic people in the process"

Kate Rigby, Rajasthan Tiger Challenge

Happy children

You may want to support Disability Essex because you have been touched personally by disability or know someone who needs support. Or you may be looking for a local cause to raise funds for whilst marking a landmark event (a birthday perhaps, a New Year’s resolution, even a divorce!). Whatever inspires you, we are here to help you every step of the way, both in preparation for your chosen trip and in raising your fundraising target.

Why not read what one of our supporters had to say about their challenge:

Oly Reeve, reaching Everest Base Camp

Oly Reeve trekked to Everest Base Camp to raise funds for Disability Essex. He wanted to do something ‘completely out of the ordinary’, so he joined us as a Disability Essex ‘Superhero’, donned his walking boots and trekked over 125 kilometres at heights of up to 18,000 feet!

“I’d never done anything like this before. I was up at 7am every morning for a swim and rushing to the gym in the evenings to get really fit. And I had to knock the Chinese takeaways on the head. I thought I was mad!

“But when we were in the Nepalese Himalayas the sights were incredible. We saw everything from mountain lakes to Buddhist monks, even a yeti (even if that was one of our team in fancy dress!). The trip really was life-changing and more exciting than I ever imagined. At the same time I got to support my local disabled community by fundraising over £2,000.”
