The Menopause Amarant Trust is a charity that aims to help women deal with problems they might experience while going through the menopause. The Almshousing in Rochester Row consists of 38 single bedroom flats consisting Sitting-Room, Bedroom, Kitchen and Bathroom. Each room has an alarm cord to summon a Warden in case of emergency. Their wardens live on the estate and are available in case of need most of the time. There are many ways in which they may be able to give assistance to people in need. They include: Grants to individuals in the form of: - Allowances- Special payment to relieve sudden distress- Payment of traveling expenses or associated costs of visiting people in hospital or in homes - Payments to assist in meeting electricity, gas and water bills.- Payment of television licence fees.- Payment for the repair of household appliances Provision of items: - Furniture, bedding, clothing, food.- Washing machines and refrigerators.- Radio or television sets for the bedridden or housebound Payment for services such as: - Essential house decorating.- Essential household repairs- Child minding for limited periods
