About the Club
Chigwell Disabled Group works with disabled people in the Epping Forest area. The group is based at the Grange Hill Methodist Church in Burrow Road, Chigwell and was started in 1999 by volunteers working in the day centre of 'Chigwell House.' When the day centre closed, the residents and volunteers still wanted the activities and support to continue. The group then set up a management committee and became a registered charity. The group has now developed a volunteer training support programme that is funded by the Big Lottery and has weekly activities that include adapted games, arts and crafts, bowling, swimming and gardening.
The group holds outings to the theatre, cinema and canal boat trips, the ethos is to say not "we can't do that," but "how can we do that?"
The club is open to people of all ages and disabilities.
